چکیده

Conditional morphology is a nonlinear method for simultaneous edge detection and image smoothing. It is derived by defining statistical models for the input-output relation as in statistical morphology, with the introduction of a line process taking into account the discontinuities between different regions of the image. It results to be a method presenting the advantages of both morphological (simplicity) and Bayesian (robustness) methods and it allows one to perform image restoration by applying a continuation method. This is performed applying a scheduling of the temperature parameters introduced with the definition of statistical models. In this paper, different kinds of temperature scheduling are analyzed. Experimental results are shown from processing of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images.

Spatially Variant Morphological Image Processing: Theory and Applications

Originally, mathematical morphology was a theory of signal transformations which are invariant under Euclidean translations. An interest in the extension of mathematical morphology to spatially-variant (SV) operators has emerged due to the requirements imposed by numerous applications in adaptive signal (image) processing. This paper presents a general theory of spatially-variant mathematical m...

An Adaptive Hybrid Morphological Method for Designing Translation Invariant Morphological Operators

— In this paper an adaptive hybrid morphological method is presented for designing translation invariant morphological operators via Matheron Decomposition and via Banon and Barrera Decomposition. It consists of a hybrid model composed of a Modular Morphological Neural Network (MMNN) and an evolutionary search mechanism: the adaptive Genetic Algorithm (GA) (adaptive rates in genetic operators)....

Measurement of Morphological Characteristics of Raw Cane Sugar Crystals Using Digital Image Analysis

Raw cane sugar is one of the most important product in the sugar industry and is the main raw material for the white sugar production. Morphological and physical properties of this product might influence the final white sugar. For instance, the behavior during centrifugation, transport and storage is related to the characteristics of these crystals. The object of this study was to determine th...

Morphological and Crystallographic Characterization of Nanoparticles by Granulometry Image Analysis and Rietveld Refinement Methods

The particle size distribution of the resultant cobalt ferrite samples was determined from Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images using the granulometry image analysis method. Results showed the nanosized particles of the samples. The X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) patterns of samples were also analyzed by Rietveld refinement method. The results indicated that the precipitated sample at 95 <sup...
